Kishinouye Award

Kishinouye award is to commemorate Prof. Kishinouye who was with the Earthquake Research Institute of the Imperial College of Tokyo.
It is well known that he is the first researcher that ever recorded inaudible sound, in other words, AE, during fracture tests of wood specimen, simulating earthquake events in a very small scale, in the early 1930’s.

In order to commemorate his pioneer work, Kishinouye award has been set up by the JSNDI(The Japanese Society for Non-Destructive Inspection) for distinguished scientists and engineers who have made tremendous and invaluable contributions to AE science and technologies.
