Tomoki Shiotani
President of IIIAE, International Institute of Innovative Acoustic Emission

As the President of the International Institute of Innovative Acoustic Emission (IIIAE), it is my great honor to welcome you to our fourth conference in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Nagoya.

In 2011, while serving as the Chairman of AEWG, I envisioned creating a unified community of Acoustic Emission (AE) experts from Japan, the USA, and Europe to foster the development of AE science. This vision took several years to come to fruition, with each group’s official approval paving the way for our inaugural conference in Kyoto in 2016. That event, attended by 182 participants of 23 countries, was a landmark moment, combining cutting-edge AE technologies with the rich cultural heritage of Japan’s ancient capital.

Now, we gather once again in Japan, in the dynamic city of Nagoya. Known as the industrial capital of Japan, Nagoya is home to leading industries in automobiles, airplanes, and machine tools. The city’s excellence is driven by numerous small, innovative companies that support giants like Toyota, mirroring the collaborative spirit we aim to cultivate within the AE community. By bringing together unique AE technologies from the three major AE groups, we strive to create significant advancements in AE science, ultimately benefiting AE engineers and scientists worldwide.

We encourage you to take some time to explore Nagoya, immerse yourself in its unique culture, and enjoy the warm hospitality of its people.

Thank you for your participation and support. We look forward to welcoming you in Nagoya.

Warm regards,
